FAQ

Can you remove Facebook reviews and posts?

Yes, when a Recommendation or post breaks Meta’s rules, for example a fake account or no real experience. Meta decides, and honest reviews usually stay up.

Yes, when the Recommendation or post breaks Meta’s rules. Meta reviews each report and makes the decision. A Page owner cannot delete another person’s Recommendation. The only built-in control is to turn Recommendations off, and Meta says that removes the rating and the reviews from your Page, the good ones included.

A Facebook review is a Recommendation: the reviewer answers yes or no and can add text. Meta’s guidance on recommending a business says a Recommendation should focus on the product or service, be based on personal experience, and not come from someone who manages the Page. Meta also says it does not verify that the reviewer bought anything. A “never been there” post, or a review about a news story or a personal feud, falls outside that guidance. Meta’s reporting steps set one limit: an older review that is only a star rating cannot be reported.

Posts and comments are judged under Meta’s Community Standards. For a post about a business, the policies that usually apply are Inauthentic Behavior (fake accounts, or one person posting from several), Spam (the same post pasted into one group after another), Bullying and Harassment (attacks on a named owner or employee), Privacy Violations (a staff member’s home address or phone number), Hateful Conduct, and Violence and Incitement. Our Facebook removal page explains each one with examples.

Most of what we remove on Facebook is not a Recommendation but a post, several of them in Facebook groups (TrustReviews data, October 2026). Facebook is about 1 in 100 of our removals; Google reviews are about 9 in 10. A group post never appears on your Reviews tab, so turning Recommendations off does nothing about it. The group’s admins can remove a post in their group, and Facebook checks a reported post against the Community Standards.

Send us the link to each Recommendation or post, because we do not read Facebook Pages automatically. Your account manager confirms the price and the terms with you before anything is filed. Our filing team files each one with Meta under its own rules, and you pay for the ones that come down. A Recommendation that describes a real experience usually stays up, however harsh it is (what we cannot remove). We do not contact the poster or ask Meta who they are (why we never contact reviewers). If a removed post comes back, we file it again at no charge.
