FAQ

How long does it take to remove a Google review?

There is no set time. Google decides when it reviews each report, so we follow every filing until Google decides and email you when a review comes down.

There is no set time, and no one can promise you a date. Google decides when it looks at each report and whether the review breaks its Maps user-generated content policy. We cannot make Google decide sooner. Some removals land months after the filing. The timing depends on Google’s queue, on whether a first report is refused and goes to appeal, and on the review itself.

Each step of Google’s process waits on Google. When an owner reports a review in the Reviews Management Tool, the report shows “Decision pending” until Google rules. If Google finds no policy violation, the owner can appeal once, and the appeal waits on Google again. Our guide to Google review appeal status explains each status.

In the TrustOS portal, each review you chose shows one status: Waiting to be sent, Being worked on, Removed, Could not be removed or Stopped. An open review also shows how long ago its filing was sent. We read your Google Business Profile about once a day. When a filed review disappears, a person opens its link and confirms it is gone before we count it. Then we email you the review and the screenshot we took before work started.

Because some removals land months later, we follow every filing until Google decides. The age of a review is not a cut-off. Of the 1,170 removed Google reviews we hold a copy of, 1 in 3 was more than a year old when we filed it, and the oldest was posted in 2013 (TrustReviews data, October 2026). Newer reviews are still easier to get removed than old ones, so file a review as soon as you see it. For that reason the Review Auto-filer files only reviews from the last 14 days.

Other platforms run their own processes on their own schedules. Trustpilot’s guidelines for businesses say complex cases can take longer, and Trustpilot may first ask the reviewer for documentation. On Reddit, a community’s moderators enforce its own rules and Reddit enforces the sitewide Reddit Rules. How we file on other platforms covers the steps there.
